An aggravated battery unit from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting this morning at West 17th Street and Laura Street in Springfield.

According to JSO Sergeant Wesley Davison on the scene, around 9:23 a.m. this morning three black males got into a disagreement on the street. One of the victims approached the suspect and was pistol whipped. In the process the gun inadvertently went off, shooting the victim in the foot.

The suspect then pistol whipped the second victim who left the scene and has not been identified. The victim shot in the foot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Davison said.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. A name or description of the suspect or his vehicle have not been released.

The victims and the suspect know each other, however details of their disagreement are unknown at this point.

Witnesses are being questioned and an investigation is underway.
