The New Year is the perfect time for young people to try out a fun, new activity. Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex invites kids, teens and parents to visit the ice rink for a FREE day of ice hockey and ice skating clinics.

In addition to the clinics, 95.1 WAPE will be making a promotional stop from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with music and prizes. There will also be class registration specials offered throughout the morning.

“We simply wanted to provide an opportunity to expose people to ice sports,” said Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex Operations Manager Mark Scheff. “Some may discover that ice skating or ice hockey is a regular, extra-curricular activity they’d like to pursue, while others will just have fun and think of it as something that they can enjoy on occasion with family and friends.”

Attendees who would like to stay after the free clinics for the regular 2:00-4:00 p.m. public skating session can do so for half-price of the normal rate, which is $6, including rentals. Due to recent technological upgrades at the rink, public skates now feature a combination of DMX lights and laser effects that energizes the skating experience.
