Back-to-School Sales Show Up Extra Early at Some Retailers

Back to school already?

Some anxious retailers are jumping the gun to get shoppers' attention extra early. With good reason: Last year consumers spent more than $55 billion on back-to-school shopping, the National Retail Federation says. Many retailers are still nervous about consumer spending in a topsy-turvy economy.

Joe's Detailing, Cleaning Up Springfield One Car At A Time

Joe's Detailing, Cleaning Up Springfield One Car At A Time

For more than 20 years Joe Linder, owner and operator of Joe's Detailing And Car Salon, has been doing his part to keep Springfield clean, doing it one car at a time.

Located at the south east corner of 5th and Main Streets, in a 1940 era gas station, Joe's Detailing offers affordable by-hand car washes, both the inside and out, for their customers. They also offer higher priced detailing options for those looking for a more thorough detailed cleaning.

Joe, an avid New England Patriots fan, is glad that Main Street construction has completed, and is thrilled to see his business recovering, though he does feel that the new median hurts his business because south bound traffic on Main Street does not have easy access to his business.

Long Time Springfield Business Still Going Strong

Long Time Springfield Business Still Going Strong

As a long time Springfield resident, I often catch myself looking forward to the new businesses in the community. We have seen many great businesses like Three Layers and Uptown Market open in recent years, and I am personally looking forward to trying new businesses like Tres Leches and Deja Vu in the near future. In all of this, however, I often find myself forgetting about the great long standing businesses in our community.
