Darnell-Cookman Middle/High School of the Medical Arts, a magnet school, has been selected for a Magnet Schools of America Merit Award as a 2011 Honorable Mention School. 

This national award, given by Magnet Schools of America, is based on a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful diversity efforts, and the consistent delivery of high quality education to students.

“We are very proud of the program we are building,” said Principal Mark E. Ertel. “Thank you to all who support us as we continue to grow the program and support our students.”

Darnell-Cookman is a dedicated Magnet School with a mission to prepare students for collegiate success through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum integrated with professional medical standards emphasizing integrity, the pursuit of academic excellence, and a passion for life-long learning.

The Honorable Mention plaque will be presented during the Opening General Session at Magnet Schools of America’s 29th National Conference on Magnet Schools on May 17 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
