I-95 southbound reopen after shootout, crash overnight | News
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sgt. Matthew Clements with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it started around 1:40 a.m. with a dispute between three adult men off Golfair Boulevard.
Clements could not say what the dispute was over, but he explained that it spilled onto the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.
The men were in two separate cars and were reportedly crashing into each other and firing shots over the course of approximately five miles.
Clements said it all came to an end near the 8th Street exit once the cars could not go any farther.
At that point, authorities arrived and shut down all southbound lanes of the interstate from 8th Street to Lem Turner Road to begin their investigation.
Currently, all three men are in police custody.
Police say one suspect is being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds while another suffered non-life threatening injuries related to the crash.
Sgt. Clements would not comment on if the violence could be related to a string of shootings in Jacksonville over the last few days.
