New Report Offers Detailed Look at Well-Being of Duval County Children

In an era of diminished public resources, the Jacksonville Children's Commission has a new tool to use as it makes decisions about future  investments and services to the community.

The Map of Child Well-Being in Duval County is part of a groundbreaking study of children in Duval County conducted by the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University on behalf of the Children's Commission. The study was funded by the Jessie Ball duPont Fund.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  Students from all of Duval county's public high schools are participating in the Stop Teenage Underage Drinking (S.T.U.D.) Rally.

The event addresses issues relating to underage drinking and lifestyle choices that teens face on a daily basis.

The S.T.U.D. Rally begins at 7 A.M. at the Morocco Shrine Auditorium.

Fun, Adventure and Sports Available at UNF Summer Camps

The University of North Florida’s Department of Campus Recreation will offer three great camps this summer, including Youth Sports and Fitness Camp, EcoCamp and Soccer Skills Camp with coach Ray Bunch.

Summer camp registration begins Tuesday, March 1. New this year, all registration will be done online. Visit www.unf.edu/recsports/ to register for any of the three summer camps. If you need help registering your child, call the Department of Campus Recreation at (904) 620-2998. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Young Children in Foster Care To Get In-Home Nurse Visits

Family Support Services of North Florida (FSS) is going above and beyond State of Florida standards by now providing in-home visits by a registered nurse to children in foster care, from newborns to age five, in Duval and Nassau counties. The nurse will also provide post-reunification services, conducting home visits up to six months after children are returned to their biological parents.
