KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- The weather still isn't cooperating with the final shuttle launch scheduled for Friday morning.

Mission managers said this morning there is a 70 percent chance bad weather will force a delay. They could launch Saturday or Sunday, but if it's delayed past Sunday they would have to wait a couple of weeks for an unmanned rocket launch.

But the countdown clock is still set for a Friday launch shortly after 11 a.m. NASA officials say they just need a small window through the clouds to launch.

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is encouraging families to keep pets safe this Fourth of July weekend.   

“While fireworks and parties are Independence Day traditions that many people enjoy, Fourth of July celebrations are scary for some animals,” said Danya Parks-Freel, director of operations at JHS.  “Many pets go missing or suffer severe injuries during Fourth of July celebrations, so it is important pet owners take precautions to ensure the safety of their pets.”

TODAY: Save Our Sports in Duval County Telethon

The Save Our Sports In Duval County Campaign is designed to raise the funds needed to re-implement the high school sports that have been cut due to budget constraints by the Duval County Public School (DCPS) system for the next school year.

On June 29, Sports Talk Radio 1010XL in partnership with DCPS, and several local sports organizations will be holding a telethon to solicit donations to save the twelve high school sports that have been cut - boys and girls junior varsity soccer, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls golf, wrestling, and slow pitch softball.
