Jacksonville Humane Society's Trail of Tails Fun Walk & Festival

Join the Jacksonville Humane Society for the third annual Trail of Tails: Fun Walk & Festival on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville Landing.  Registration is $30 per person, $25 per person for members of teams of four or more, $15 for students (ages 13-22) and $10 for children (ages 5-12).  All prices increase by $5 the day of the event.  Registration fee includes an event T-shirt and goodie bag.  Animals walk with their owners for free.

Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate! is bringing a colossal party on ice to your hometown!  This all-new show visits Jacksonville from April 7 – 10, 2011 for Eight performances at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tickets go on sale February 25th at 10 a.m.

IRS to host Open House

Taxpayers who may have difficulty scheduling a visit to an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center during normal weekday business hours can visit the IRS at six different locations in Florida on Saturday, February 26, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The IRS will host the Saturday Open Houses to provide free assistance to taxpayers who need help getting information required to file their tax returns. Help with account questions, such as collection or examination issues, will also be available during the open house.

Get Up Close to Monster Trucks at Displays This Thursday & Friday 2/24-25

Before the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® revs up the crowd at EverBank Field this Saturday, February 26, some of the show’s stars will be on display so fans can get an up-close look, for free.  At various locations throughout the First Coast, the public is invited to stop by and check out the trucks and talk to the drivers.  Below is a list of truck displays for this Thursday and Friday.

Camp Cadet Kicks Off Application Period

Northeast Florida Camp Cadet, Inc. is kicking off the application period for a week long summer camp that begins on June 19th and runs through June 25th, 2011 at Camp Blanding (southern Clay County off SR 16).

The camp is for all youth, not just for troubled youth. Applicants must be 12 - 15 years of age.  Applications will not be accepted after April 9th, 2011.  Applications are available at the local police /sheriffs offices in the following counties: Clay, Duval, Bradford, St. Johns and Nassau.  There is no cost/fee for the camp and a maximum of eighty (80) youth will be accepted.

City Rescue Mission Bed Races Will Zoom Through Downtown

Beds will roll at City Rescue Mission’s 7th Annual Bed Race and Family Fun Festival on Saturday, March 5 in downtown Jacksonville near the Jacksonville Landing. This free event is open to the public, who are invited to help cheer on bed racing teams and enjoy activities, food and fun for the whole family from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
