Come Feast On Turkey A Day Before Thanksgiving

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The homeless and needy are welcome to come feast on turkey and pumpkin pie the day BEFORE Thanksgiving this year.

The city Rescue mission will serve men, women and children at the New Life Inn from 12 to 3pm on November 23, 2011.

The Thanksgiving entertainment actually begins at 10:00 in the morning on the 23rd.  Praise and Worship and special performances and speeches will last all morning until the luncheon.

The New Life Inn is at 234 W. State Street in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

Winn-Dixie Partners with Feeding America to Help Fight Hunger

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. announced it has joined forces with Feeding America to launch the Give a Meal program, which gives Winn-Dixie guests and team members the opportunity to help provide food to nearly 37 million Americans — including more than 14 million children — facing hunger this holiday season. Give a Meal runs through Jan. 3 and is available in all of Winn-Dixie’s 482 stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Every $1 donated during the campaign helps provide eight meals to people in need.

Group donates unprecedented million dollars to launch homeless veterans' center in Northeast Florida


Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. and Affiliates (AVW) have donated $1,000,000 to purchase a building and provide start-up costs for a Jacksonville area in-house center to help veterans in need.

The group’s aggressive goal is to immediately fill a void for American heroes who have fallen on hard times during this tumultuous economy by opening the AVW Veterans Center in time for the holidays, according to Jerry Bass, National Commander, Allied Veterans of the World, Inc.
