150 CSX Managers Gather SATURDAY MORNING to Finalize Service Project at The Sanctuary on 8th Street

Tomorrow, Saturday, December 10th, 150 CSX managers from across the country will gather to put the finishing touches on the six-month-long service project at the Sanctuary on 8th Street in Jacksonville.  Over the course of the project, an anticipated 335 total CSX employees have lent a hand, totaling 1,675 total volunteer hours given.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until 2:30 p.m., the CSX team of management trainees will wrap up the renovation and restoration of this vital community learning center, set in one of Jacksonville’s toughest neighborhoods.

The goal all along has been to cultivate CSX’s commitment to service in every new member of its management team, and tomorrow’s event will serve as the culmination of this project, which has included:

  • Expanding the experiential learning-focused gardening program, the aim of which is to connect kids, many for the first time in their lives, directly with their food sources;
  • Growing an entrepreneurial-focused pilot catering project;
  • Encouraging Earth-friendly recycle and reuse practices through composting and expanded garden space;
  • Improving health and wellness opportunities for children, including improvement of all playground facilities.
