Jacksonville, January 17- Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 3.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.07/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.07/g, according to gasoline price website

Deadline this week for nominations for NFHLA’s annual Rose Awards

The North Florida Hotel and Lodging Association (NFHLA) invites the restaurant, hospitality and tourism industries in Northeast Florida to nominate outstanding employees and staff for the third annual Recognition of Service Excellence (ROSE) Award.

Two Local Schools Receive Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grants

Gardens With a PurposeLowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded 33 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education® grants in Florida. These schools received grants during the fall 2010 grants cycle, and they are some of the more than 480 schools or parent organizations that were awarded a grant for parent-initiated school improvement projects benefiting K-12 public education across the United States.

City Kidz and Cornell University Partner on Combining College Dreams and Ice Creams

City Kidz Ice Cream café in downtown Jacksonville is collaborating with Cornell University to provide local middle and high school students’ access to an innovative Food Science Program.  The program, hosted by Clinton Bush of City Kidz, is a Cornell approved curriculum that teaches the students about Food Science in a hands on workshop.  The program culminates in the students own Ice Cream being marketed and sold at local Publix and Winn Dixie stores.

New Young Professional Group: The Miracle Board

With a population of over 736,000 people, Jacksonville has many young individuals looking to get involved in their local community.  Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Northeast Florida/ Southeast Georgia is proud to have such an opportunity with its new young professional group, The Miracle Board.  The Miracle Board will comprise of young professionals, ages 21 through 35 years old, that will work towards furthering the success of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Jacksonville’s mission, engaging these members through networking and volunteer opportunities, as well as raising awareness and funds to support the pediatric programs at Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Jacksonville Symphony Guild 2011 Designer Showhouse

The Jacksonville Symphony Guild’s 2011 Designer Showhouse location has been announced at the Coxwell Estate, a 17-acre property located at 9433 Coxwell Lane in Jacksonville. The Showhouse will feature a variety of fundraising events to benefit the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The theme of this year’s Showhouse is “Southern Grandeur” which typifies the expansive two-story residence that sits on a gated estate with entryway featuring a large, natural stone and nature-themed fountain with lawns, nature areas and natural streams.
