Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam continued his crackdown against unlicensed telemarketers last week, shutting down firms in several southwest Florida counties.

Investigators from the Department’s Division of Consumer Services, in partnership with the Department’s Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement, conducted inspections in Sarasota, Manatee, Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties.

On the way to work today I stopped for breakfast at a non-descript little white building known to most Springfielders simply as "Tommy’s". I have been to Tommy’s before, and have waited in line with utility workers, police officers, yuppies, and even a guy who I was pretty sure was homeless. Over a nearby cooler, which holds the orange juice, milk, soda, and beer, is a sign that says "No Beer Before 7am" which, I was assured today, is not meant as a joke. Another sign suggests if you don’t like the food or service, you can continue up the road to Krystal’s.

On Monday, March 21, more than 420 Perkins Restaurant & Bakery locations will join together for a system-wide fundraiser benefitting Give Kids The World, a nonprofit organization that provides week-long vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families at a fanciful, “storybook” retreat in Central Florida. Guests dining at participating restaurants on “Perkins Pancake Day” can enjoy a free shortstack of Perkins made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes, expertly prepared using Perkins legendary recipe created and perfected more than 50 years ago. In return, guests can consider making a donation to Give Kids The World.

Welcome 4th Street Car Wash to Springfield!!!!!  Located on the corner of 4th and Main, Springfield's newest business will officially open its doors on March 3rd at 8 a.m.  Owned and operated by Silas Jones, the site has been a car wash location in Historic Springfield since the mid-50s.  Mr. Silas in these last years has landscaped and equipped the site with the latest car washing equipment.  You can go through the automatic car wash, or have your car had washed instead.  A summer conversation with Mr. Silas' son brought smiles when he said they would like to host antique car shows at their business.  How appropriately fitting for our neighborhood.  Support local.  Get your wash at the 4th Street Car Wash.

Springfield Coffee Shop Changes Hours

Three Layers, Springfields home for great Coffee and Cake, recently changed its hours of operation. Since opening more than three years ago, Three Layers has continually reinvented itself by bring in new events like trivia, karoke, and comedy. They also have been known to host group meetings and have even adding a wine bar (The Cellar), which hosts wine tastings and art openings.

When asked about the change in hours, owner Shawn McGuire, who also owns Dwellings Real Estate, replied that they were making the change to meet demand, stating quite simply "Most people come into three layers after 10am".

The new hours are as follows

Sunday-Thursday  10am - 10pm

Friday-Saturday  10am - 11pm
