Through January 9 – Prehistoric Predators – Walk alongside the dinosaurs!  Encounter a soaring Pteranodon with a 23-foot wingspan, a Maiasaura mother caring for her hatchlings, a Pachycephalosaurus, Apatosaurus, Albertosaurus and more in the limited-engagement exhibit, Prehistoric Predators.  Dinosaur models are handcrafted based on fossil records and equipped with internal computers, making them look – and sound – like the magnificent beasts that once roamed Earth! 

Wednesdays – Half-Price Half Days – Beginning at noon each Wednesday when school is in session, students receive 50% off MOSH's regular admission prices. Reduced rates are $4.00 for students 3-12 and $5.00 for students 13 and over. Students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Discount may be applied toward college students with id.

Alhambra Plans New Year's Eve Party With Patsy Cline

The new Alhambra Theatre will usher in 2011 with a New Year’s Eve Party like none other in Jacksonville.  This one-time-only event will feature the hit show, “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” starring Gail Bliss.  Prior to the show, guests will enjoy a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres.  A special dinner will be prepared my Executive Chef Matthew Medure.  Following the performance, guests will enjoy dancing to live music and a New Year’s champagne toast.  For those who have worked up an appetite, The Alhambra will also roll out a breakfast buffet at about 11:00 PM.

Tickets for the Mayor’s Holiday Festival for Senior Citizens are Now on Sale

Tickets for the Mayor’s Holiday Festival for Senior Citizens are now on sale.  Tickets are available for $8 each at the Mary L. Singleton Senior Center, 150 E. First St., and at City Hall at St. James, 117 W. Duval St., Suite 280 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center,1000 Water St., from 2 - 5 p.m.

New Holiday Show at the Alhambra!

If part of the magic of live theater is creating different worlds for audiences to explore, then audiences are in for a new Christmas thrill this year. For the cast and crew of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play,” the magic of theater also includes the magic of radio. The Alhambra Theatre & Dining announces its first-ever production of the beloved holiday classic, It's a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play adapted from Frank Capra's film and directed by Tod Booth.   The production will run December 1 -December 24, 2010.

Douglas Anderson School of Art to Create Documentary About Body Image

Jill McCann, a registered dietician with Wekiva Springs Center, was recently selected to participate in a documentary about body image.  The project is being conducted by a film student from Douglas Anderson School of Art in Jacksonville.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Presents Art Ventures: Supporting the Arts in Jacksonville

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens presents Art Ventures: Supporting the Arts In Jacksonville for 20 Years on November 18, 2010. The exhibition, on view through January 2, 2011, features 51 pieces from 31 artists, including paintings, photographs, mixed media, sculptures, video and poetry.  The Art Ventures initiative of the Community Foundation in Jacksonville has contributed to the success of 39 small arts organizations and 91 individual artists in Northeast Florida.  Thirty of these individual artists were selected through a juried process to be a part of this anniversary exhibition at The Cummer.
