SPAR Council’s 33rd spring time tour. This popular weekend event is a great opportunity for the public to get an inside look at several turn of the century built homes, beautiful gardens and other sights of interest in Historic Springfield, Jacksonville’s oldest neighborhood founded in 1869. Springfield was featured as the South’s #1 comeback neighborhood in the January 2010 issue of Southern Living magazine and described as having “a life of its own” in the December 2010 issue of Florida Trend.

When:  Saturday, May 14 (1pm – 5pm)

            Sunday, May 15 (1pm – 5pm)

Eight beautiful homes - 5 that were built around the turn of the century; 1 “new” that truly looks and is decorated as if it were 100 yrs; a Collegiate Gothic School building, now converted to loft condominiums; a Mediterranean Revival Building, converted to a single family home;2 historic homes converted to specialty businesses  (offering complimentary treats) and the outstanding Woman’s Club building – at about midpoint serving their famous homemade goodies, punch and general community hospitality.

This is a self-guided walking – or short drive tour and there will be Springfield “Neighbor” volunteers along the route to welcome and direct attendees as well as provide any necessary assistance throughout the tour.

TICKETS: “Historic” prices – With economic times as they are, SPAR has “gone back in history” to the year 2000 prices: $10.00 in advance or for SPAR and RAP members, $12 on site. Advance tickets are available at and at the SPAR office, 1321 N. Main St.
