Sam’s Club Brings Christmas Joy to Local Children’s Miracle Network Kids

The Christmas season is not a time that most people want to spend in the emergency room.  The kids who had to make that trip to Shand’s Pediatric Emergency Room on Monday, December 20th, got a little surprise from some local Sam’s Club employees.  Yesterday, fourteen of their employees made a special delivery of toys and some Christmas cheer.  For the past month, all three Jacksonville Sam’s Club locations collected $1400 worth of toys that were donated to Children’s Miracle  Network.

All children that were in the Shands Pediatric Emergency Department at the time of delivery received a present.  They received age appropriate gifts that ranged from building blocks and puzzles, to Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels.  The remainder of the toys will go to Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital, both of which are Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

From January through November 30, 2010 all three Sam’s Club locations, on Beach Boulevard, Busch Drive, and Youngerman Circle have raised over $45,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Jacksonville.  Funds were raised through various efforts that included a basketball tournament and balloon campaigns.  The Wal-Mart company, owner of Sam’s Club, has been a proud sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network nationally, since 1987 and have raised close to $500 million over the past 23 years of support.
