2010 Jacksonville Light Parade Winners Announced

The City of Jacksonville is proud to announce the following winners from the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade, held tonight, on the downtown riverfront.  The Grand Overall Winner was Captain Warren Burton whose sailboat Pelican included blue and silver snowflakes.

In the sailboat category, the first place winner was Captain James Misora, with his boat Peppin which was decorated with a swaying palm tree.  The second place sailboat winner was Captain Nick Sharrow, with his boat Sassy Girl, which was decorated with blue, white and green cascading lights.

The 1st place winner in the 30’ and Over Powerboat category was Captain Travis Guthrie, with his boat The Aries Star decorated with a Christmas Rocks! theme.   Second place in the 30’ and Over category was captured by Captain Rick Regnier aboard Wits End decorated with lights, lights and more lights.

In the Under 30’ Powerboat category, first place went to Captain Steve DiPerna, whose boat Escape had Santa in his sleigh with reindeer rockin’ to the beat.  Second place in the Under 30’ Category went to Captain Earl Kerr, with his boat Wattever, whose boat featured a dancing Santa and flying reindeer.

Captain Fillipe Macedo took honors in the Corporate/Commercial category, with his crew on CVS Caremark featuring a winter wonderland with Santa and a huge snow globe.  Topping the Organized Club category was Captain Eric Nord aboard Helga decorated as a dragon and choreographed rowing crew.  Best New Entry honors went to Captain David Webb with his boat Vivace II, decorated as a giant yellow duck.   The Holiday Spirit award went to Captain Kevin Hasson aboard the Horny Lizard with a very enthusiastic crew honoring the US military.            

Boats were judged based on lights and decorations, composition and originality.  Judges for the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade were: Larry Wilson, general manager, SMG Jacksonville; Emily Lisska, executive director, Jacksonville Historical Society; and Buddy Haskell of Haskell Marine and the president of the Jacksonville Marine Association.
